Introduction Selecting The right Grill Capital Grills Evo Grills TEC Grills Napoleon Grills Phoenix Grills Big Green Egg

Introduction

Grilling food outdoors is enjoyable and grilled food tastes better than food cooked indoors. Grills are becoming the central appliance in an outdoor room area. Beautiful built in or cart grills are complimented by stainless cocktail centers and stainless doors and drawers, outdoor fireplaces and patio furniture. These grill based outdoor rooms become a meeting place for guests much in the way that guests tend to congregate in the indoor kitchen.

There are a number of grills on the market these days, some good and some not so good. In many cases the retailer only sells the grill and you the customer are on your own to deal with delivery to your deck, freight and freight damage, gas line work, grill assembly, pre burn adjustment, checking for gas leaks, grill operation training, warranty service, repair and location of sources for replacement parts. Large, heavier grills are particularly difficult for homeowners to deal with.

Many of these grills are made by unknown manufacturers, often in China. Sometimes these grills do not work properly and it is very difficult to obtain parts for them.

Yes, we have competitive prices but you get a lot more when you purchase a grill from Fireside. We take care of everything, including doing a pre delivery burn adjustment, checking for gas leaks, providing grill operation training and any warranty or repair service.

We have well trained grill service technicians that know our products and can properly service them should repair be needed. Our technicians are both factory trained and properly certified by the Oregon Fire Marshall's Office for the installation and service of propane appliances.

At Fireside we have had the opportunity to sell most every grill brand available because of the number of years we have sold and serviced grills and because of the volume we sell. As you might guess, there are dramatic differences in grill operation, performance and reliability. Therefore, we spend a lot of time analyzing and testing grills to insure that we select the best possible models for you. Additionally, we thoroughly test those that we sell to insure that we can tell you about the details of their operating characteristics. We also provide regular grilling demonstrations on many Saturdays to help you use your grill and have more fun grilling. Additionally, we specialize in built-in grills, whether we provide the built in island or the island is being done by a mason. We also have an extensive selection of dry rubs, sauces and grilling accessories to make grilling even more enjoyable.

Selecting The right Grill

There are two basic kinds of grilling processes and many different grill models to choose from at Fireside. Which grill is right for you? 1. Direct grilling is cooking relatively quickly over the direct heat from the grill. 2. Convective grilling is cooking indirectly at lower temperatures and for longer periods. All grills can do both kinds of grilling, but some models are much better at direct grilling than convective grilling and visa versa. One of the most important things we do is to help customers decide which type of grilling and which grill is best for them.

Capital GrillsCapital Grills

Our "pro style" premium stainless grills are Capital Grills. Capital grills are designed to provide the best in outdoor entertaining in addition to cooking exceptionally well. They are the most stunning grills on the market. They have the best fit and finish of all grills, particularly in the operation of their doors and drawers. They have the latest infrared burners in addition to conventional burners. They also have commercial grade infrared rear burners and rotis systems for exceptional rotisserie grilling. Capital grills are best for direct grilling but can also be used for convective grilling. Built in models are on display at Fireside in addition to cart models. TEC GrillsTEC Grills

TEC, Thermal Engineering Corporation, is the originator of the infrared gas grill. Properly designed infrared grills can flavorize food better than any other grill on the market. TEC grills are particularly well suited for direct grilling and while they can cook at lower temperatures with the hood closed, they are not ideal for convective cooking. TEC grills have a new infrared burner design for broadening the heat range that uses both an infrared burner and a glass plate moderator above it. However, the older TEC classic burner design with its patented "U" shaped cooking grid is still unsurpassed for flavorizing food.

TEC Grill price range: $2,000 to $5,000

Napoleon GrillsNapoleon Grills

Napoleon Grills (Wolf Steel Ltd.) continues to be North America's largest privately owned grill and fireplace company. Many of their grills have a lower price point and compete with Weber Grills. Some of Napoleon advantages over Weber include HEATWAVE™ cooking grids, front to back burner direction*, superior indirect cooking and LIFT EASE™ easy opening lids. Model for model, Napoleon grills offer more value than the heavily marketed Weber grills.

(*Weber Grills are the only grills that still have the obsolete left to right burner direction.)

Whether its a simple black cart grill or a beautiful, porcelain and stainless model, Napoleon grills provide more value and greater design features for you than their competition.

Napoleon Grill price range: $500 to $2,500

Phoenix GrillsPhoenix Grills

Phoenix grills are designed to provide the best possible indirect (convective cooking) while still being able to grill steaks and other fast grilling foods. These grills are unique in their ability to convectively grill food slowly and retain food moisture while providing that great grilled flavor. Phoenix grills are especially well suited to grilling chicken, turkeys, fish and most any large roast. They are available in several different models ranging from all black to all stainless.

Phoenix Grill price range: $800 to $1,500

Big Green Egg

The Big Green Egg is a very unique grill that burns pure wood, lump charcoal.Big Green Egg It's great for both high temperature grilling and slow cooking of roasts and poultry. During slow cooking, it has an exceptional capability of flavorizing, retaining moisture and adding that smoked flavor to food. It does require that you manually start the charcoal and that you regularly clean the ash build up out of the bottom.

Food tastes amazingly good in part because of the natural lump charcoal (particularly when mesquite or hickory is added) and in part because the high density ceramic "egg" structure holds heat for hours, retaining almost all the food's moisture.

Big Green Eggs have been available for a number of years and work so well that there is even kind of a "cult" following. If you are able to spend a little more time grilling, want the best in naturally flavored food with exceptional moisture and the ability to reliably add a smoked flavor, only a Big Green Egg will do. Eggs come in several sizes, with the large size being the most versatile.

Many serious grill users have a gas grill for quick, casual grilling and a Big Green Egg for more serious use.

Big Green Egg price range: $500 to $2,000
